Position Title: Community Program Coordinator - Cultural Arts
Reports to: Director, Cultural Arts Program
FSLA status: Non-exempt
The Community Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the mission of SpArc Services by coordinating and managing community based activities and contracts, training staff on community outings, and working with management to ensure proper staffing and ratios both in the community and in the facility.
- Schedule, coordinate, organize and manage implementation of multiple community outings daily.
- Ensure proper staffing and ratios for outings, being aware of participant needs and working collaboratively with management to confirm staff coverage both in the community and in the facility.
- Provide direct support for program participants as necessary.
- Manage contracts for outings, ensuring that payments are made via director as needed.
- Explore and initiate new conversations and relationships with community partners, adding to the variety of community connections and experiences for program participants.
- Train new staff on safe driving techniques, how to navigate public transportation, and the expectations for program participant engagement.
- Problem solve issues regarding participant situations, with and without assistance. Anticipate possible problems or challenges and work to prevent unnecessary conflict.
- Support and abide by all required regulatory compliance, safety and incident management standards.
- Ensure that all software entries/documentation for trips is recorded accurately in accordance with regulatory compliance requirements.
- Participate in all required training including additional professional development as needed.
- Serve as a mentor and coach to program participants and staff. Provide guidance and direction while being a positive role model.
- Provide crisis intervention as necessary to support program participants. Use the least restrictive emergency procedure when necessary to protect participants from injuring self or others. Follow intervention policies and regulations. Indicate that unusual incident standards are understood and followed.
- Immediately bring to the attention of your supervisor and program specialist any concerns about program participants.
- Perform additional task assigned by management as needed.
- Positively and professionally represent SpArc Philadelphia at all times.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred and two (2) years minimum experience or training certification in working with people with disabilities.
- Must have the ability to demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
- Must have extensive knowledge of Philadelphia and surrounding communities.
- Clear criminal record and child abuse history, complete medical and drug screen (paid for by SpArc Philadelphia).
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, ability to drive all company vehicles and willingness to take public transportation as needed.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills including communicating with people from diverse backgrounds and varied abilities.
- CPR certified and First Aid trained.
- Understands the needs of program participants and adjusts behavior accordingly. Able to demonstrate compassion, empathy, and positive attitude while supporting independence. Able to model and train appropriate workplace behavior including skill development.
- Able to provide crisis intervention including de-escalation of behavior.
- Initiative to utilize materials and information to plan and implement productive activities.
- Demonstrates the organization's core competencies and solid customer service skills.
- Ability to translate regulations into practice. Knows the importance of effective record keeping with advanced technology experience.
- Ability to form effective partnerships with all stakeholders including family, caregivers, and funders.
Physical Environment / Working Conditions
