To ensure affordable, high-quality advocacy services are accessible to families throughout the region, The Arc of Philadelphia is extending its services to families in Delaware County. 

Since its inception in 1948, The Arc of Philadelphia has provided support services to families, helping them protect the rights of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through consultation and training, the staff assists individuals with disabilities and their families to gain access to support services that help promote inclusion and independence. 

“We are excited for the opportunity to expand our advocacy services to families in Delaware County,” said Shane Janick, the Executive Director of The Arc of Philadelphia, “This will help self-advocates and families be better equipped to manage their support services and achieve higher levels of independence.”

The advocacy services offered cover a wide range of topics, which include gaining access to disability services, navigating the education system, assisting with how to maximize healthcare services, and working toward full access and inclusion. The Arc of Philadelphia delivers these services in various ways, such as one-to-one consultation, parent and caregiver webinar series, and community partnerships. 

Sherri Landis, Executive Director of The Arc of Pennsylvania added, “We are thrilled that The Arc of Philadelphia will be extending their service area to Delaware County. This union will help us to reach our goal of all Pennsylvanians having access to advocacy support services.” 

The Arc of Philadelphia will keep its name and add a new tagline, reading, “proudly serving Philadelphia and Delaware County.
