Partnership Between The Arc and Comcast Will Expand Technology Center

The Arc of Philadelphia is thrilled to announce that it has received a grant from the Comcast NBC Universal Foundation to expand access to technology for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

The grant is intended to address disparities in access to technology for those with disabilities. Technology can make a world of difference in improving the lives of those with disabilities, with such innovative tech out there as communication devices, in home supports, video monitoring, entertainment devices, and safety alarms.

Thanks to the partnership, The Arc of Philadelphia will be able to expand its technology center, allowing for personal assessments, customized support plans, and assistive technology to be taken home and used to enhance everyday living. The grant will also impact community uplift, reaching people with intellectual and developmental disabilities from neighborhoods experiencing deep poverty.

“Comcast is committed to making our products, services, and experiences accessible to the widest possible audience, and opening new doors to independence for people with disabilities.  We’re proud to partner with The Arc of Philadelphia to expand their Tech Coaching Center and have a positive impact on the tech skills of people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities,” said Robert F. Smith, Regional Vice President of Community Impact, Comcast.
